Years, that is.

6 years.

2,190 days.

52,560 hours.

You get the picture. But what are these numbers? I know you’re dying to know.

That is the amount of time that Michael and I have been a couple. Consecutively. No breaks. No break-ups. Craz-ay.

To celebrate, here are some samples of our engagement pictures we had done literally a year ago. Weird how the timing worked out.

For the pictures, I wanted to do something a little more out of the box than holding hands in an urban setting – not that I don’t think those are awesome pictures, but I just wanted something different. So we headed about 10 miles East of town to Cara/Erin Family farmland for some nature-y pictures. And I brought props! Poor Michael, he was embarrassed by my props.

I found this frame at my favorite antique store (at the time it was yellow) and became obsessed. I paid 8 dollars for the ginormous frame with wire screwed in to create a line. Perfect for pictures to represent our faces over the years. I plan on making more of these to put around the house. I love this as an alternative for picture collages.

Through the years…

Not only did this frame make an appearance in these pictures, but was used to feature the engagement photos at the wedding and is now on our mantle. I love when things come full circle.

If we look like we have no idea what to do, it’s because we didn’t.

This is where it got a little crazy. As I said earlier, I wanted more out-of-the-box pictures and what better way to do that than gallivant in FEATHERS?! I couldn’t think of anything more cool sounding so I hightailed it to Wallie World the night before our pictures and purchased a down feather pillow for the low, low price of $8.00. Bless the poor ducky who lost his feathers for the purpose of being a prop. :(

READY. SET. GO!

I love the feathers floating around us.

Then things got even more wild.

This was so much fun. The photographer wished the wind had picked up just a little more so we could capture more floatation, but we got some awesome shots so I guess you can say, “Winning!”

Once we officially looked tarred and feathered, we went back into town and stopped by one of our favorite little antique stores (don’t worry, we called ahead and asked first). These were also a lot of fun to take – with everything around us it was easy to let loose and just go with it.

Isn’t Mikey handsome? Hope you enjoyed a sneak at some of our engagement pictures.

Here’s to six more years. And I guess more than that, too. Muah ha ha.

Has anyone else decided to break the urban-photography mold and do something a little messy?
